Restore Your Smile with Digital Chairside Dentistry

Damaged teeth can make daily activities such as chewing and speaking uncomfortable. A cavity often causes sensitivity and leads to a toothache if left untreated. The underlying nerves are impacted after just a few months, which can be quite painful. Furthermore, cavities widen and deepen, making the tooth prone to cracks or breaks. A tooth is likely worth saving if the tooth roots and interior are healthy. If you’re already missing a tooth, the repercussions are even greater—from shifting of other teeth and a change in alignment—to an increased risk of gum disease and decay.

The great news is that if you have a chipped, cracked, or missing tooth, CEREC® dental bridges and crown at MYDDS in Miami, Fl, they eliminated the cumbersome process required to create traditional crowns and bridges. Whether you need a dental crown or bridge, we offer this service in-house at Miami-Dade Dental Specialties. Our dentist, Dr. Tamara Martinez, has many years of cosmetic dentistry experience, including advanced training in CEREC technology.

What is CEREC Technology?

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) relies on a computer program called CAD (computer-aided design) and CAM (computer-aided manufacturing). With state-of-the-art milling technology, Dr. Martinez can create and place a customized tooth crown at MYDDS on the same day as your visit. CEREC is a versatile technology and can also be used to create dental bridges.

This advanced in-house tool provides a precise way to restore the look and function of your smile conveniently and cost-effectively. With outsourced crowns, you must wear a temporary crown for several weeks until the final restoration. Suppose you’re looking for an immediate solution or have concerns about wearing poorly fitting temporary crowns. This streamlined procedure can improve your smile without the downsides of traditional crowns and bridges.

Who is a Candidate for Same-Day Tooth Restorations?

Dental crowns are tooth caps that restore a damaged or seriously discolored tooth to its original strength and appearance. Dr. Martinez recommends crowns in Miami, FL, when a tooth is too damaged to be treated with a composite filling, onlay, or inlay. In addition, crowns are placed over a tooth after a root canal to protect the weakened inner structure. A dental bridge is a tooth replacement option that relies on one or more false teeth connected to crowned adjacent natural teeth to support it.

It literally ‘bridges the gaps’ created by one or more missing teeth to restore your natural smile appearance. Dr. Martinez will determine if you’re a good candidate for same-day restorations based on a thorough oral exam, diagnostics, and how many teeth need repair or replacement. At MYDDS, we create CEREC restorations for up to three teeth but send out more than three to a trusted outside dental lab.

The Steps Involved in Creating a CEREC Crown

1

Dr. Martinez numbs the area surrounding your tooth and prepares it by cleaning it. An impression of your mouth is made using high-definition intraoral scanners and design software.

2

The CAD/CAM program analyzes the impression of your mouth and creates a treatment plan to restore your tooth or teeth.

3

The design specifications are sent to the specialized milling machine to fabricate a natural-looking crown from a solid block of high-quality zirconia.

4

Color-matching and polishing are done while you wait. Dr. Martinez will securely bond your natural-looking dental crown to your tooth, and the entire procedure takes less than two hours for one crown in Miami, FL!

The Cost of Same-Day Crowns and Bridges

Despite the incredible convenience and superb technological precision, the cost of same-day crowns and bridges at MYDDS is comparable to traditional restorations. Depending on your policy, CEREC crowns may be partially covered by dental insurance. Before you decide to move forward, our friendly office staff will contact your insurance company to determine your coverage and estimated out-of-pocket costs.
